Hi everybody, today I have something a little different from the normal nail art swatch and nail art. I will be reviewing three products sent to me from Nail HQ.
Nail HQ claim to have a new and revolutionary nail care line and I was very interested to see just how good some of these products are. It is alway nice to try products from a British brand as I am so used to using products made in the USA.
Ok so the three items I will be sharing with you are their Base Coat, Ridge Filler and Gel Top coat.
I thought I would share a picture of my natural nails without anything on them. I haven’t done a nail care routine blog post in a while so I will do an updated one soon, but if you are interested in my past post you can read the blog post or see a more recent video on my youtube.
Ok so first up is the Nail HQ Base coat.
So this base coat is quite different from any I have used previously and does have a tacky finish to it, which is meant to help the polish adhere to the nail, and it really did feel different when applying the polish over it. I also felt I needed less coats of polish as a result of using this base coat. I cannot say whether it kept my nails from yellowing completely, but I have been using it for a few weeks now and my nails have not gone yellow, so that is a definite plus. Overall I think this base coat is very good, however I am not sure how good it is at acting like a strengthener for nails as some other base coats do. I will be using this more in the future.
Next up is the Nail HQ Ridge Filler.
So if you look closely at the first image of my naked nails you will be able to see I suffer from ridges. Many say this is due to a deficiency in something but I am not too sure if that is true as I have tried all vitamins and nothing ever gets rid of my ridges, so ridge fillers have been something I have used for many years. This pretty pink ridge filler goes on very well and certainly fills the ridges giving a nice base for polish and it also helps the polish adhere to the nail. I really like this product as after using it for a few weeks my nails felt great. I also found that it is lovely to wear on its own as a sheer pink french mani colour.
Last up is the Nail HQ Gel Top Coat.
So I am extremely fussy about top coats, and usually stick to my faves and never try anything new, so when I was sent this Gel Top coat for review I wasn’t too keen on trying it 🙂 Only because I love extremely fast drying top coats and this does claim to be that, but I have never found anything that dries as quickly as Seche Vite or HK girl Top Coat from glisten and glow.
Ok so how did this top coat compare??? It did pretty well to be honest. It went on easily and is quite thick, it was actually quite fast drying and dried hard dry within 30 mins. There was however something I really did not like about this top coat and that was that it changed to colour of the polish. Now I know many top coats do this, but this was very noticeable to the naked eye, more so than in the picture.
So the pointer and middle finger both have the top coat on and the ring and pinky do not. Can you see the colour difference? It is almost like to made the colour lighter and pinker. On the plus side this top coat does not need any UV light and it is very long wearing, I had the colour on for week and there as hardly any tip wear at all, which is fantastic.
Overall I think the Nail HQ line of products are very good and would love to try some of the other items in the range. Have any of you tried their products? If so what do you think?
Nail HQ products are available at a number of different retailers and a full list can be found on their site, but some include Superdrug, Tesco (instore only) and Amazon. The range is very reasonably priced and ranges from £5 to £9 for each individual product.
