Hi everybody I am back with a post that has been waiting to be posted for over a week now, I just have not had the chance to edit the pictures till today.
As I am sure most of you who read my blog are aware I love my premium beauty and today I am sharing the Chanel Le Rouge Collection No.1 from the Autumn/Winter make up releases this season.
I got this collection in August at Heathrow duty free while travelling to Dublin. And I was excited to see traditional red hues throughout the whole collection.
I didn’t get everything in the collection as that would have cost me a bomb, I selected one of the lipsticks, the eye palette, an eyeliner and both the polishes in the collection.
Lets start with the make up:
So first up is this gorgeous autumnal palette. This palette has 4 matte shades in it, so if you are a shimmer fan this is not for you. It includes all shades needed for a beautiful red smoky eye and I was pleasantly surprised with the pigmentation of the shadows which is fabulous.
I had to get the waterproof eyeliner in shade Eros which is also extremely pigmented and has a metallic finish to it. I love my eyeliners so I was interested to see how this one stood up to my expectations.
Below are swatches of the shadow palette and the eyeliner, as you can see the pigmentation is fab.
The top shot is in indoor lighting and the bottom in natural sunlight. The eyeliner lasted all day when I wore it to work, it may not be such a work appropriate shade, but hey I think they all think I am a bit crazy and eccentric at work so no one really cares lol. I haven’t had a chance to wear the shadows so I cannot comment on how well they stay, but they are such gorgeous colours.
I had a hard time deciding which red lipstick to get, and decided to go for Rouge Vie which is one of the colours in their Matte Lip colour range. I own a few of these in different colours and I absolutely love them. They are perfectly pigmented and also apply nicely without snagging on the lips. They have a satin/matte finish and are not drying on the lips at all. I also find they wear really nicely and leave a stain on the lips when they are worn off so it doesn’t look patchy.
Rouge Vie is a lovely deep red, almost verging on the brick red side. I was pleasantly surprised with the colour as I don’t own many brick red colours. The picture on the left is in indoor lighting and one on the right is in natural sunlight, and below you can see how it looks on my lips. Remember that lipsticks will look different on different people, this is due to skin tone and colour of your natural lips.
Ok so last but certainly not least and the part of the collection I was most interested in is obviously the polishes.
So I love the idea of sheer and glass nails and the Chanel ‘Rouge Radical’ polish from this collection gives you a beautiful glassy finish. I did have to apply 3 coats, but I can tell it will be a great topper on polishes and will give them an amazing finish.
This is 3 coats with no top coat, yep thats right no top coat. As you can see it looks like a sheet of red glass on the nails, and I absolutely love it. The colour has a orange tone to it which I quite liked.
I cannot say that there is anything particularly spectacular about Rouge Puissant, the other red polish in this collection, but I do like the fact it has a slight raspberry tone to it. It was also near perfect in one coat so has fabulous opacity.
Overall I am very glad to see an autumnal collection that will have something to suit everyone, after all the colour red looks fabulous on everyone and every skin tone.
I will be back with some nail art soon, thanks for reading xxx
