Hi everybody, I hope you are all having a great summer.  The summer in the UK seems to have come to and end already, fingers crossed we will get some more hot weather soon.

So today I am back with a review of a new to me brand called Dr. Dana.  I was lucky enough to get my cousin from the USA to bring these over for me as at the present they are only available for shipping to the US.  This is a picture heavy post.

Dr. Dana is the first line of nail care developed with dermatologists and it is 9 free, so it has no harmful chemicals or fumes.

There are 6 colours in the range and a base and top coat.  I will be sharing all the colours and both the base & top coat with you.

The nail polishes were all designed with and named for inspirational women who are at the top of their field and whose nail health and beauty is essential to their career. (Taken from Dr Dana webpage).

Ok so lets start with the 9-Free Hydrating Base Coat and 9-Free Quick Dry Top Coat.

Dr. Dana Base and Top Coat

I used the base coat under all the swatches and absolutely love it. It dries to a matte finish and dries very quickly.  I think it would be suitable for men who like to manicure because it does not have a glossy finish.  I also found it kept my nails from getting stained as I tried all of the colours from the range.

The Top coat certainly is quick drying and I found it to have fab coverage as well as the fact it did not smudge the nail art I created, for me this is a big must.  Too many times I create a design only to have it ruined by the top coat smudge, but not with this top coat.  As for the fast drying time, I need to do some tests with other fast drying top coats, but it seemed to be touch dry in minutes and hard dry within 20, which compares to my fave top coats.  I think I may have just found a new fave, and with it being 9-free that is fab.

Ok time for some colour and lots of photos of the six different shades in the collection.

Dr. Dana Beauty Nail Colour

Lets go from left to right: Quincy, Gayle, theSkimm, Hannah, Kelly & Judy.

Dr. Dana 9 Free Nail Colour in Shade Quincy

This french mani colour with a hint of pink was created with and named after The professional Surfer Quincy Davis.  This swatch is three coats but you could apply 1 or 2 for a more sheer french mani colour.

Next up is shade ‘Gayle’.

Dr. Dana 9 Free Nail Colour in Shade Gayle

This nude pink colour was created with and named after CBS This Morning co-host and The Oprah Magazine editor-at-large Gayle King.  This swatch is two coats but there was still a bit of streakiness so I would recommend applying 3 coats, if you have long nails like mine.  I think this is a flattering nude polish for all skin tones.

Next up is the shade ‘theSkimm’.

This stunning aqua colour was created with and named after theSkimm, a female-founded media company that makes it easier to live smarter.  This swatch is two coats, and I was pleasantly surprised as I thought I would need more as the polish itself gave an almost jelly like finish with the first coat applied but when I applied the second coat it was like a full coverage cream.

Next up is the shade ‘Hannah’.

This bright summer ready tangerine colour was created with and named after the award-winning journalist, producer, director and author Hannah Storm. This swatch is two coats and again like the previous colour the fist coat almost applied like a jelly polish, but was full coverage in 2 coats.  Such a fun colour for summer and a summer bright which would suit most skin tones.

Next up is the shade ‘Kelly’.

This bright fuchsia pink colour was created with and named after award-winning television personality Kelly Ripa.  This swatch is two coats and this colour applied very well with a full coverage cream formula.  The brushes for the polishes are amazing but I will get to that later in the post.

Lastly we have the shade ‘Judy’.

Dr. Dana 9 Free Nail Colour in Shade Judy

This deep blue toned red was created with and named after the world-renowned chef and restaurateur Judy Joo.  This swatch is two coats and this colour is a bit deeper when seen in person, more like the colour in the bottle.

So overall I was extremely impressed by this nail range from Dr. Dana, the fact it is 9-free and has no nasties in it was a massive plus for me.  All the colours applied well and that is probably due to the amazing Italian crafted brush with means you get perfect application.  It has a wide brush which is perfect for my long broad nail. The bottles also have a lovely outer box and as with most of the premium polishes the lid is removable so you can paint your nails in comfort.

I created some summer appropriate nail art using all 6 polish colours and my 00 nail art brush from Winstonia store. I hope you like it, leave a comment for me in the comments section if you do.

Summer Floral Nail Art using Dr. Dana polishes

I did this design about a week ago and still have it on my nails today.  The staying power of the polishes with the 9-free top coat is amazing.  I only have a tiny bit of wear on my right hand.
