I’m so late with this review, and so sorry for that. I’ve actually received my August BirchBox already but it won’t take me long to review that one 🙂
So let’s get right into it.
This box has a number of subscription options along with a £10 a month rolling membership that allows you to cancel at any time.
Vita Coco – Natural Coconut water in Lemonade – 330ml (£2.29)
I was a little surprised to get a drink in the box, as I suppose I have always associated these types of monthly boxes with make up and skin care. But it did make a nice change. And the drink itself was very refreshing especially with the hot weather we were having in the UK at the time I got this box. It is a little pricey though so not sure I would buy it, as you can get fresh juices for cheaper. It comes in a variety of flavours all from natural ingredients.
Benefit -The Porefessional – 7.5ml (£18.20-£24.50 for 22ml)
This is available to buy from birch box but your better off buying from other retailers who are cheaper, so if you click on the title it will take you to where I found it cheapest.
This was a sample size item and I was excited to try this as I have tried a few primers before and this one is UK’s number one selling one.
I was not disappointed 🙂 I don’t have massive pores, but as i am getting older they are showing more 😦 This was a bit like magic really. It basically made my pores look non existent. I have been using this since, and will do a detailed review on primers at some point. So will I buy this??? Maybe. I have a few other primers so want them to finish first.
Philip Kingsley – One More day dry Shampoo -50ml (£6.00 – 50ml, £13.50 – 200ml)
This again was a sample size, and very good to travel with. I do use dry shampoos quite a bit as sometimes I just don’t have time to style my hair in the way I want and the curls weigh it down making it look lank. As well as being great for actually making your hair feel a bit fresher, I find they give volume to hair too.
This dry shampoo has a lovely clean smell and not too flowery like some out there on the market. I use Baptiste quite a bit and find it ok, but does leave a residue on your hair. This spray was great, no residue and really gave me the volume and freshness I like to feel in my hair. I don’t think anything can make your hair feel freshly washed without it actually being freshly washed, but this is a great product. It is a bit pricey, but if your only going to use it once in a while it is worth it.
Wish – Three Wishes Lavender Body Butter – 200ml (£14.50)
I am really trying hard to remember what the smell of this cream reminds me of? but I cannot, all I do remember is it cunjors memories of me as a child, maybe my mum used a similar smelling cream on me as a baby, oh who knows lol
Ok so this is not a cheap body cream by any means, it has a nice fresh clean smell to it which is not over powering at all. It sinks in instantly, but I was left feeling like I needed more moisturisation. Maybe is a good one to use before bed, but it would not be great for me after a shower. It claims to be anti ageing and it is paraben and sulfate free which is always good. I cannot say if I noticed any anti ageing effects, but I would probably need to be using it longer for that to happen anyway.
Balance Me – Wonder eye cream – 7ml ( 15ml – £20)
This was a sample size, but is pretty much half the size of the full sized product.
I tried this out and it felt nice and cooling on the eyes, but I would really need to use it for longer to see if it makes a real difference, I actually use boots protect and perfect eye cream, which really does make a difference for me to fine lines around the eyes, so switching may be hard for me. We will see once it finishes.
LaQa & Co. Sheer Lip Lube Pencil in Bees Knees – 07oz (£14)
I am most definitely a lipstick lover and lipgloss and lip balm and anything lip related, so I was happy to have this included in the box.
It is like a moisturising tinted lip balm, thats the best way I can describe it. It has a nice peppermint smell and feels quite refreshing on the lips. If you like a wash of sheer colour this is a great product, but it will wear off quickly and at £14 is a little expensive for my liking, think I would prefer to spend that on a Matte Lippy from Mac 🙂 But that’s just me.
So there you have it, detailed review of each of the products in the July Birchbox. I will be posting my last July beauty box review tomorrow, then I will be looking at the August boxes, in a bit of a more timely manner hopefully.
Thanks for reading xx
