Dior Kingdom of Colours Review and Swatches

So today I have a long awaited blog post finally ready :), long awaited by me that is.  Life again got busy and I have also been ill, so these beauties from the new Spring collection by Dior sat waiting in a box for about 3 weeks 😦

Anyway I finally managed to use the products and take some pics so here is a review of the Dior Kingdom of Colours Spring 2015 Limited edition make up and polishes…gosh that’s  mouth full lol

So I decided to get one of the eye shadow palettes rather than the little mixed palette which also comes in this collection, as I have far too many of those travel type palettes.

I managed to get my hands on all 4 of the polishes including the rather interesting Top Coat Exclusion in Blossom. I  chose the ‘House of Greens’ 5 pan eyeshadow palette rather than the ‘House of Pinks‘ as I have lots of pinks in my eyeshadow collection already.  I was also looking forward to trying the Cheek and Lip Glow.  So are you ready for this picture heavy blog post 🙂 ok here we go.

Starting with the polishes I was pleased that not all the colours were girly pastels as so many spring collections I’ve seen before.  It has something for everyone in my opinion. Unfortunately the bottle shots don’t show the true colour of the polishes but the nails do 🙂

I always love the names given to Dior polishes, they seem to suit the polishes so well. Ok so first up is ‘Majesty’.

Dior 'Majesty' Swatch

Dior ‘Majesty’ Swatch

I absolutely adore this colour, it is such a pretty pinky peach and just perfect for Spring.  It has a decent application, however I did use three coats + top coat in this swatch.  They have a very shiny finish even without top coat and are meant to be like a Gel effect polish, which I would agree with.

Dior Majesty + Exclusion top coat

So here is the first of the swatches including the rather pretty pastel glitter top coat ‘Blossom’, so this is where the pastels are in the collection. I was pleasantly surprised by this top coat, although I do think Indie brands are so much better at making this type of polish than mass brands. It is a little light on glitter, and I had to be careful when applying it to ensure an even coat of glitter.  This is one coat on top of ‘Majesty’.  So what do you think? Pretty? Waste of money? Would you rock this top coat?

Dior 'Lady' Swatch

Dior ‘Lady’ Swatch

Ahhhhh this is the most perfect Pink toned nude, and I love it. Dior ‘Lady’ is simply beautiful and it think it would suit most skin tones.  Perfect and super glossy in 2 coats, although I did apply top coat you probably don’t need it to add shine, but I need my polish to dry fast and so top coat is a must 🙂

So here is another shot of the pretty pastel glitter called blossom. I think Dior did great with this glitter top coat as it seems to go with every colour in the collection, and am sure it would go with most colours generally.

Dior Glory Swatch

Last  in the polish line is the lovely ‘Glory’. This is such a pretty pinky red colour and again I think it would go with any skin tone.  It was a perfect 2 coater and could have been a 1 coater if I had been more careful with the application.  Such a pretty colour, and I am happy to add it to my collection.

Do you see what I mean by it goes with every colour?? Good work Dior, next time add a bit more glitter to it and it will be perfect 🙂

So that’s the nails done time for the make up from the collection.

Dior Lip and Cheek Glow

Dior Lip and Cheek Glow

I was interested in trying this product because I quite like tints for my cheeks as I have quite dry skin at times and powder blush can often make it feel even more dry.  So this is a liquid product that drys to a matte finish and it leaves a stain of colour, so it is long lasting.

Above are swatches in direct sunlight (left) and indoor with flash (right).  It has a much more pink tone than I thought it would have when looking at it in the bottle, in which it looks more red.  The colour can also be built up by layering it once the previous layer has dried to give a more dramatic look, this can be seen in the picture below of little old me using it on my lips and cheeks.

I used a darker lip liner from Rimmel which for some reason has no name on it, probably because it has rubbed off.  If your interested in the full details of what I have on my face keep reading as I list it later in the post.

So on the eyes I have the ‘House of Greens’ eyeshadows.

Dior House of Greens eyeshadow palette

It is a very pretty palette, but if you are not a lover of shimmer eyeshadow it is not for you.  It is very shimmery as can be seen in the swatches below.

Again in direct sunlight (left) and indoor with flash (right). As you can see they are all quite shimmery apart from the darkest shadow which is a more of a satin finish.  Here is a close up of my eye ball so you can see the colours, I used all the colours in the palette to create this look.

Eeekkkk thats a big eye ball hey lolol.  My eyes have actually been really annoying over the past few months, but hey that’s a story for another day.

So last is another pic of moi not so close this time 🙂  I have listed all the products I used for this look below the picture if you are interested.
